Brian Leander - Assistant Coach
After being involved in competitive sports since my youth I progressed totriathlon after looking for a fun way to stay in shape while managing ahectic travel schedule. Battle of the Bridges in 1999 (now Health First) wasmy first race, and I was hooked. For me it was a natural progression with mybackground in cycling and track & field (notice I didn't say anything aboutcompetitive swimming!). Over the past 10 years I have met some great people through the sport andthat is probably what I enjoy most about triathlons: the camaraderie. I havealso learned a great deal from these friends and I would like to pass thatknowledge on to those new to the sport. I enjoy helping the athletes feel comfortable by eliminating some of theanxieties that come with the sport, so that they can really enjoy theirtraining and push their abilities to the next level. I will be happy todiscuss what has worked for me as well as what has not. There is nothingthat can top the feeling of achieving your goals on race day, but we spendmuch more time in training, so my goal is to assist in making the trainingsessions more enjoyable and effective.
